SculptureX was born in Loveland Hall, on the campus of Edinboro University in western Pennsylvania. Challenged by the limited funding available for visiting artists and travel, Edinboro University faculty collaborated with Cleveland, OH and Erie, PA arts professionals to establish a free “exchange” of expertise, a website and an annual symposium.

If you visit Loveland, look for the century-old ScaRAb Club logo over the entrance. Go inside and check out the Waldo Bates mini-memorial. Bates lived just a three minute walk from Loveland. He turned down a job offer from NYC’s Metropolitan Museum to stay and build Loveland Hall and the region’s strongest art program.
